Stardust (David Essex song)
"Stardust" is a 1974 song by David Essex, written by the singer, and produced by Jeff Wayne. The single on CBS Records reached No.7 on the UK Charts. The song was the theme song to Essex's film Stardust, and was released almost simultaneously on two albums; firstly his own CBS album ''David Essex'' in September, and then with 9 other David Essex-penned songs on the Stardust (soundtrack) on Ronco, timed for the October film release.〔Billboard - 14 Sept. 1974 - Page 56 Theme song from the new David Essex film "Stardust"— also titled "Stardust"— will appear on two different record labels .It is included on the film soundtrack LP, via Ronco, on which Essex sings 10 self-penned songs, for release to tie in with the film premiere (Oct. 18)— and on his own CBS album, "David Essex," rush-released end of September to avoid conflict with the other release.〕 The B-side was "Miss Sweetness", also written by Essex.〔Kimberly Bright - Chris Spedding: Reluctant Guitar Hero -2006 - Page 199 David Essex, “Stardust”/“Miss Sweetness” (CBS) 7“ single.
